Biography:

Ms. McCormick was born in Atlanta, Georgia and later moved to Arkansas, graduating from Searcy High School in 1982. After receiving her B.B.A. in Accounting from Harding University, she graduated from University of Arkansas Law School.

Ms. McCormick began her legal career at the Arkansas Public Service Commission in 1989, concentrating on telecommunications issues in the post-divestiture regulatory environment that brought competition in the long distance market to Arkansas. The “rate base rate-of-return” methodology used at that time for setting local service rates required extensive use of her accounting background. She also had the opportunity to work with issues of universal service, the Americans with Disabilities-mandated Telecommunications Relay Service (an operator service that allows people who are deaf, hard of hearing or speech-disabled to place calls to any other telephone user) and the emergence of cellular telecommunications service and competitive local exchange carriers.

In 1999, Ms. McCormick took her knowledge and experience of the telecommunications regulatory environment to Alltel Communications, Inc. when that company made the decision to enter the emerging world of competitive local exchange service. As Director of Interconnection Services, she negotiated multiple interconnection contracts with the “Baby Bells” that held strong monopoly positions in the local exchange market, as well as with the rapidly growing number of cellular carriers wanting to enter Alltel’s local exchange service territories.

In 2003, Ms. McCormick came to Jack, Lyon & Jones, P.A., now JACK NELSON JONES JILES & GREGORY, P.A., where her work in public finance and securities law has allowed her to continue her love of numbers.

Ms. McCormick is married to W.A. McCormick. They have two daughters.
